The zumo takes a standard mini USB connection like most phones except the iGay. I bought this not knowing and i have tons of adapters like this already.
Why do they sell you Garmin 450, a windshield mount that fits the Garmin 450 and then sell you a power cord with the wrong tip. I also want to use it in my truck so I bought the windshield mount and the Gomadic cigarette lighter plug that was recommended by the "other buyers who purchased a Garmin also bought these items" section on the website. I bought a Garmin Zumo 450 navigator for my bike. I guess it's so you'll just have to order another tip for $5.95 (plus $5.00 shipping) which will fit. Everything came and I went out to put it in my truck and guess what. The "tip exchange" piece doesn't fit the Garmin 450. RINKY DINK. At least they should send the tip that fits the unit you buy.
The charger do what they say they do.The adapter fit my GPS like it stated it would, and charges the battery just fine. The one thing that confused me is I didn't know my GPS yet and I had know idear where it gets pluged in.The picture show it being pluged into the side of the GPS.I don't leave home with out them now.
The system doesn't seem to want to charge the item, and it is constantly running out of power. I ordered this charger system with the idea that I would use it in my car. I use the system that came with the Zumo on my motorcycle. In addition, with the windshield mount, I get no sound. The wall plug-in works fine.
You'll have to get the Garmin 12-Volt Vehicle DC Power Adapter for the StreetPilot C510 and C550 (010-10747-03) to make the mount work. Because it also thinks that your connected to the computer.
I just can't figure out why the screen has to be on while it's charging. The wall charger does it's job.
But you can't use the GPS while it's charging in the car. It seems to think that it's connected to the computer.
The car charger also does it's job as charging it. Both use the USB type of connector to connect it to the GPS The tip of both chargers is the same and won't fit the Automotive Suction Cup Mount so you can't take advantage of the speakers on the Mount.
Which is what I got eventually.
